West Bottoms Engagement Session under the historic bridge

West Bottoms Engagement Session – Jesse & Katie

My boudoir studio is located right where we took these photos. Why on earth is this my first engagement session there? When Katie & Jesse told me they wanted something the complete opposite of their wedding vibe (barn-like) and preferred the look of the historic West Bottoms for their engagement session, I was all in.

Katie and Jesse met at a bar in 2011 in a very “them” fashion. Jesse almost hit Katie with a door. She told him to apologize. They’ve been in love ever since. They live together in a beautiful house with six amazingly wonderful animals who yell at me when I don’t pet them enough.

A couple of years ago they did an absolutely amazing renovation of their home kitchen and made my husband and I a three-course meal that was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. They were also in a wedding party for some amazing nuptials I photographed in 2018! They are such a down-to-earth, playful and loving couple. They take everything in stride which is amazing to know and see considering how much they’ve been through.

When I asked them for three words that described their relationship, I wasn’t far off.

Weird, enduring, cozy

They are yet another amazing friendship that has bloomed due to Twitter and I couldn’t be more thankful for them.

One of my favorite questions I love to ask couples is what TV couple they remind themselves of:

“Jake and Amy from Brooklyn 99 – Jake is a well-meaning, incredibly smart and sweet human disaster, and Amy is a smart, well-organized, giant-ass need human disaster. They’re relationship is like us because they’re so so obviously and abashedly into each other.”

As an also Amy Santiago, I absolutely love this and had to share.
