Kansas City’s River Market is one of my favorite photo spots. It’s perfect for families, weddings, and in our case… Anniversary photos.

Last year I photographed Grace’s boudoir photos in a cute downtown Airbnb. I immediately fell in love with her quick wit, quirky personality, & easy going nature. She’s a photographer herself, so it was an honor for her to trust me with these photos. She photographs all the stuff I never could. She also does a great damn job at it! If you’d like to see Grace’s food and lifestyle work, click here.

We originally found each other through twitter & over the past year I’ve gotten to live vicariously through her “weekend in photos” series. She’s constantly out here living her best life and I’m totally envious. Through these posts I’ve also gotten to “meet” who she affectionately only refers to as “boyfriend”.

It was immediately easy to see how these two fit. From their in sync and yet still somehow completely random noise making, to their loving giggles and stolen kisses throughout the session. Their first date was a trip to Chicago after meeting at a mutual friend’s epic and annual “Dive Prom” and the rest is history. My partner and I solidified our love for each other by taking an extended and intensive trip early in our relationship as well, so I definitely know how it can either bond or break you as a couple.

We met up in the River Market at the City Market parking lot and walked around the area finding alleys and eventually settled down at the river’s edge where the ice that has been broken up floated along. It made for the most adorable backdrop and for this sudden and warm weather was amazing to see. With a link to so much in the area, you can’t go wrong taking photos there.

If you ever want to just feel pure joy and love eminating from photos, please come back to this session. I know a lot of people claim to be able to “feel the love” in photos, but if you haven’t ever felt this.. I think now is your time.

Kansas City River Market Anniversary – Grace + Colby

I have been asked to write this one million times. In fact, I have sat down to do it and then I realize I don’t feel qualified. I still don’t, but for the 1 person I might help? Let’s just try it. There are some unavoidable things in life, but as much as I can […]

My boudoir studio is located right where we took these photos. Why on earth is this my first engagement session there? When Katie & Jesse told me they wanted something the complete opposite of their wedding vibe (barn-like) and preferred the look of the historic West Bottoms for their engagement session, I was all in. […]

Hi! The site looks a little different if you’ve been here before, yeah? If not, welcome to my tiny corner of the internet! When I imagined introducing my new branding and website to the world, 100% of me knew I wanted to do it with this blog post. Was I sure what “this” blog post […]

Chark & I (that’s Charleen & Mark) headed out to Red Door Wine Store last week for their engagement session. I quickly knew upon their inquiry that we were kindred spirits. Ean & I also used our celebrity couple name (Tean) to create an e-mail to organize all of our wedding e-mail shenanigans. It felt […]
