I was ordained six months ago & was incredibly pleased that my first elopement took place at Burr Oak.

I got ordained in order to service my clients that choose to get married privately. I’m gonna sound like a robot on repeat if you follow me on social media, but I truly just want this drilled into your head.

It is 2019. You wanna have an intimate elopement in Burr Oak Woods? DO IT.

Bergundy has never been one for tons of attention. We’ve been friends since we were in High School & it’s just not her style. She’s known she’s wanted to marry Ryan for literal ages, and when she texted me to tell me he proposed at their cabin in Colorado, I SHRIEKED out loud in excitement. I’ve never seen a couple more fit for each other. Ryan is so laid back. He is determined. He is a hard worker who just wants the ability to provide and care for them both, their two dogs, and their cat, Bruce.

Spoiler alert, if you scroll down you’ll see their pups. Sade & Etta. Named for Sade Adu & Etta James. Ryan also LOVES old school soul. Every time I go visit them, I feel like it’s a Sunday morning and my mom has turned on the music to get up and clean. It’s relaxing and he loves to grab Bebe and dance with her in their living room.

Basically, I’m saying that when Bebe texted me and told me she was over the whole “big wedding” thing already and just wanted to get married quickly and privately, I understood. Later, she came back to tell me she just wanted me to do it. I was overjoyed. We picked up & with her best friend and Ryan’s brother and we headed to Burr Oak. I wrote a short and sweet ceremony, they said their I Dos and in the 30 degree weather, Bebe and Ryan declared their love for each other.

This fall, they’ll have a large party to celebrate with their other friends & family, but for now they got to do this. Love each other. In a pretty place and with the stress of a huge day off their shoulders.
