You can usually tell a lot about your couple simply from where they choose for their photos. Fun fact. Even when we thought Burr Oaks may fall through, they found example images from my posts to find somewhere else.. They were still taken at Burr Oaks!
So we made it happen. We traipsed through their iconic trees, listened to some music and made magic.
Emma and Shelby are both teachers which gave me even more reason to do their story justice, with the background of a family of educators myself. They proposed to each other, at different times, and it was the sweetest thing I’d ever heard. Their rings are beautiful and unique and when I asked how cuddly they were they immediately responded that they love snuggles.
This is just a brief snapshot of the obvious love they share, but check out these photos and stay tuned for their wedding at the Uptown next year! They already told me a bit about their dresses and to be honest, I’m stoked.
Stay tuned for the bottom of the post, if you’re interested! Burr Oak is in danger of being closed off to photographers and clients everywhere, I wrote more about it in Shelby & Emma’s instagram feature.
PSA: Take care of YOUR town and community space before there isn’t one for you to be a part of. Shelby & Emma had their hearts set on Burr Oak for their engagement photos. Even when I asked for a back up, they found another photo of mine they hoped was somewhere else. Nope. Still Burr Oak. We didn’t think our session would be possible because people DONT PICK UP THEIR DAMN TRASH. Stop parking in the woods. There are lots and you have legs. Stop bringing messes. Stop leaving your props.
I’m not Google, but search “leave no trace” and start living your life accordingly. If you don’t know how to respect a place, please don’t go there. Our clients shouldn’t HAVE to pay to use these places that we’re visiting and using to *respectfully* make art but we’re heading that way. Don’t be a part of the problem. Be the trash police if you have to. The cute hats cost nothing on Amazon. In fact, make a whole damn costume. Just help stop this madness.
